Every karat, in every weight. Fine 24ct gold is R2 248,33 a gram, R69 931 a troy ounce and R2 248 334 a kilogram; 9ct is R843,97 a gram. The board carries 9ct, 14ct, 18ct, 22ct and 24ct across grams, ounces and kilograms, worked from the live spot feed.
Each karat is its legal gold purity times the pure price, gram for gram, and every one has its own page with a value-by-weight table: 9ct at 37.5%, the karat most South African jewellery is made in; 14ct at 58.5%, which usually arrives here as an import; 18ct at 75%, the fine-jewellery step-up; 22ct at 91.67%, the Krugerrand alloy and the Indian and Middle-Eastern standard; and 24ct at 99.9%, the fine gold every other karat is derived from.
