About

An independent gold desk

Goldza is an independent South African gold desk. It publishes one honest, timestamped number for the metal, the tools to work out what your own gold is worth, and straight journalism on buying and selling it here. It buys no gold and sells no gold.

What we publish

The live board carries the rand gold price per gram for every karat, worked from the spot feed and timestamped. On top of it sit the tools, a calculator for any weight, a live hallmark decoder, and live Krugerrand melt values. And around the numbers, the knowledge: why the price is really a rand story, how to check a buyer is legitimate, and what SA buyers actually pay.

Independent on purpose

Most South African gold pages are either a decade-old widget or a shopfront with a price bolted on. Goldza is a desk: it publishes the arithmetic and shows its working. The site itself holds no stock and quotes no buying rate, so we can publish a straight number and name the gap that others exist to hide. When a buyer is worth naming, we name it in the open, next to its published rate.

How we work, and when we are wrong

Every figure is live, computed from public arithmetic, or attributed to a named source; the full method is on the methodology page. The desk is written and reviewed in-house. When we get something wrong we fix it in the open and log it under corrections. Prices are data, not financial advice, and Goldza is not a licensed financial services provider.
